A cavalry community – cavalrymen who lived and worked at Vindolanda

We know a lot about the Roman cavalry at Vindolanda from the objects found here. Vindolanda has produced a wealth of archaeological material that is uniquely well-preserved. The Hadrian's Cavalry exhibition will contain rare, ancient material that does not normally survive and has provided vital insight into who the cavalrymen were and what their daily lives involved, as well as shining a rare light onto the lives of the people around them. Visitors to the exhibition will be able to examine the Vindolanda writing tablets and other fascinating objects found in on-going excavations at the site which reveal more about the personal stories of cavalry soldiers.
