Super charger – arming the Roman horse for battle

Roman cavalry were an essential component of the Roman Army. They were famously fast and deadly on the battlefield. At the Roman Army Museum, visitors will learn more about how horse-mounted troops allowed the Roman army to carry out long-range reconnaissance, to quickly deliver messages across great distances, and to deal with military threats head-on. The exhibition will explore how both cavalryman and his horse had very high status across the Roman frontier.

Mini troops can test their knowledge with a free Cavalry Quiz as you explore the exhibition. Find out more on arrival.
