Heddon has the first long stretch of Hadrian's Wall west of Newcastle. Numerous tour coaches call to visit the Wall and the Saxon Church of St Andrews which is open and manned everyday from 11am-1pm. The Methodist Church also stands in the centre of the village and is over 100 years old. We have two public houses, both serving food and a delicattesen serving coffee. Heddon has three other shops and a library which has some local information. Buses to Newcastle, Carlisle and one a day to Keswick can be caught in Heddon, also the AD122 Hadrian's Wall bus which takes toursits to the Roman Sites as far as Bowness on Solway.
Sometimes you just need to get out there, blow off some steam and get your adrenaline pumping. Whatever your age, there’s plenty of activity adventures to be had close to Hadrian’s Wall.
