A “barbarian” view of the Wall
Location
Hadrian’s Wall in Northumberland National Park
Directions
- Turn right out of Steel Rigg car park and in a couple of hundred yards bear right along a track signed “footpath to Hotbank 1 1/2 miles”, towards first Peatrigg plantation, then the buildings of Peatrigg and Longside.
- Continue east and soon after crossing a second footbridge take the path signed to the right towards Hotbank farm.
- Emerge onto Hadrian’s Wall Path National Trail at the earthwork remains of Milecastle 38. Turn right and follow the National Trail Acorn waymarks back towards Steel Rigg.
