Roman Vindolanda

Vindolanda was a Roman auxiliary fort just south of Hadrian's Wall. Archaeological excavations of the site show it was under Roman occupation from roughly 85 AD to 370 AD and have uncovered amazing finds, now on display in the fantastic on-site museum.

Newcastle Castle

Segedunum Roman Fort and Museum

Located at the eastern end of Hadrian’s Wall - Wallsend, in North Tyneside - the Roman fort at Segedunum is the most completely excavated fort on Hadrian’s Wall.

Prudhoe Castle

Prudhoe Castle has many a story to tell to the intrepid visitor. Have a picnic and take in the surroundings, browse in the shop or explore the keep, great hall and towered walls enclosing a fine Georgian mansion, or take a walk around the moat and grounds.

Lanercost Priory

The beautiful and now tranquil setting of Augustinian Lanercost Priory belies an often troubled history. Standing close to Hadrian's Wall, it suffered frequent attacks during the long Anglo-Scottish wars, once by Robert Bruce in person.
